Title : BMW 3-Series, 1992-1999: MRP Autoguide
Author : Graham Robson
Rating : 3 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Unbelievable!
OK, I haven't read this book, but I just had to comment on the cover. The cover shows an E46 BMW 3-Series (Produced 1999-2006), even though the book is about the E36 model (1990-1998).
This unbelievable carelessness would put me off giving this book a try. A pity, as it may be a good book inside that cover...

Title : BMW 5 Series Service Manual 1982-88: 528e, 533i, 535i, 535is
Author :
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Excellent Owner Support Manual
Compared to the Haynes, this book gives excellent photographs, warnings on appropriate procedures, tool and chemicals to make the job easier and a section on easy to build test equipment to help in diagnostics.
Coupled with BMW's Mobile Tradition CDROM covering illustrations and part numbers, this book will save the owner significant repair costs over a BMW dealership service department or after-market repair facility.
This is a MUST OWN for anyone interested in becoming involved in simple maintenance or more complex tasks to reduce the cost of owning a great performing German automobile. Bentley Publishers excels over other reference print materials.

Title : End of the Road: BMW and Rover - A Brand Too Far
Author : Andrew Lorenz
Rating : 1 Stars out of 5.
Summary : An Opportunity Missed
For starters this isn't good value for money. I think £ for such a thin book is a bit steep - I'd finished the book within 2 days and I'm not a fast reader!
Secondly it skims over the surface of the issues, it feels like an extended newspaper article rather than an in-depth study. The authors stick to the rather few (albeit very important) people that they spoke to, and treat one or two of them to (unjustified, in my view) hero-worship. They could have added far more interest, colour and drama, if they had perhaps talked to some more operational people to get a feel for what it was like 'on the ground'; (It would also have added a bit more material).
If you're looking for a far more interesting book on a car industry merger gone wrong then buy "Taken for a Ride" on the Daimler Chrysler merger. It's a far more interesting and entertaining read than this, rather unsatisfying book.
If you're looking for a better or comparible history of Rover and BMW then stick to reading the newspapers ...

Title : Illustrated BMW Motorcycle Buyer's Guide
Author : Stefan Knittel
Rating : 3 Stars out of 5.
Summary : More of a history book than a buyers' guide.
This is a great book and well written. However, it is more of a history book on the BMW motorcycles than it is a buyer's guide. There is very little information on pricing and the author is very generous to the BMW legacy without being especially helpful to prospective buyers. I put it down having learned alot about the BMW line but probably more confused about which BMW to buy than when I picked it up. If you want to learn about the bikes it is great, if you are a newcomer and you want basic buying info, I am not sure that this is the best book.

Title : Bmw '02 Restoration Guide
Author : Mike Macartney
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Fantastic Hints For 2002 Cars
I purchased this book for my partner who has been restoring 2002's for 8 years. There is so much that we have gained in terms of the hints and directions whilst working on our tii and Baur convertible. I would strongly recommend this as an essential book for anyone who owns or restores these cars.

Author : Larry Warren
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Better than nothing but the Bentley books are way better
This is a thick book with most of the information you need. However there are no good drawings and the photos don't help too much. They try to cover too much and are not organized enough. I don't think telling you how to take apart and put together stuff is enough. Diagnostic tips, like the Bentley manual is what you need. However, this is alot cheaper.
