Title : BMW Motorcycles: The Ultimate Riding Machines
Author : Books Carlton
Rating : 1 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Very poor. Little text, and uncaptioned pictures.
I have to say I was very disapointed with this book. I was expecting a large, well illustrated, and interesting book. Instead it is a brief history of BMW. It starts with some text but this is spaced out to make it look more substantial! You then get a series of photos. These initially have no captions! The photos are then repeated in smaller format at the end with captions! Why? Whats the point of doing a book like this?
I could not recomend this book to anyone... Sorry.

Title : Unbeatable BMW: Eighty Years of Engineering and Motorsport Success
Author : Jeremy Walton
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Excellent book for BMW fans
Without doubt BMW has created some of the greatest cars of all time. This book is a detailed account of the achievements by BMW; a good presentation of mechanical and engineering detail, great photos and a detailed account of the achievements of the M division. BMW M should be proud. If you are interested in BMWs and to have a good reference book this is an excellent buy. If you are a BMW fan like myself dont miss it !!!

Title : BMW 5 Series Service Manual 1982-88: 528e, 533i, 535i, 535is
Author :
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Excellent Owner Support Manual
Compared to the Haynes, this book gives excellent photographs, warnings on appropriate procedures, tool and chemicals to make the job easier and a section on easy to build test equipment to help in diagnostics.
Coupled with BMW's Mobile Tradition CDROM covering illustrations and part numbers, this book will save the owner significant repair costs over a BMW dealership service department or after-market repair facility.
This is a MUST OWN for anyone interested in becoming involved in simple maintenance or more complex tasks to reduce the cost of owning a great performing German automobile. Bentley Publishers excels over other reference print materials.

Title : BMW Z3 M Coupes and Roadsters: Gold Portfolio 1996-2002
Author : R.M. Clarke
Rating : 3 Stars out of 5.
Summary : What I think
I wanted to buy a BMW Z3 for my wife and as part of my research found the new Brooklands Gold Portfolio on the model. Here in one book were all the previews, road and comparison tests from all over the world (even Australia!). What was really good was the fact that there were many reviews in full colour. If I had to find fault it was the lack of long term ownership reports, although there was one Buying Used article that gave useful hints on spare parts and servicing costs as well as a guide to what various year models might cost.
The book convinced me not to buy a 4-cylinder Z3, to look only for a six-cylinder version. And the articles on the fabulous M coupes--my wife thinks they're ugly even if they are blindingly quick--and roadsters simply whetted my appetite for the future.
I would highly recommend this book if you are interested in a Z3 with the view to buying the car or simply reading about them.

Title : BMW 3 and 5 Series Service and Repair Manual (Haynes Service Repair Manuals)
Author : A.K. Legg
Rating : 3 Stars out of 5.
Summary : A practical users view of the Haynes BMW 3 and 5 series book
I owned a 318i 1990 model BMW for 12 years. I used this book as my source of guidance for the last 3 of those years.
On mechanical matters it is mostly good and has helpful advice for alternates to the purchase of BMW special tools. It does not however have any significant help on interior trim. I never did find out how to tighten up the interior rear view mirror which was loose. And if you want to remove or replace door trim you are on your own.
The book mainly illustrates operations with pictures of a 3 series car, there is relatively little for 5 series owners here. I think they may rate it only 2 Stars or less.
I personally would have liked to see more "exploded" line diagrams, so helpful in re-assembly of complex items.
None the less I would buy it again if I still had the car.

Title : BMW M-Series and Performance Specials (Sports Car Colour History S.)
Author : Jonathan Cohen
Rating : 4 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Very informative book
This is the best book about performance BMW I have come across. It features history, facts and pictures about M1, M3, M5, M635 CSi, M6 and 850 CSi.
What suprised me the most was the in depth information and nice pics about Alpina, featuring the B10 BiTurbo, B12, B8 4,6 (3 series with 333 HP V8) and early B7 Turbo models.
Info about ALL Alpina models and M models! Also mentioning some Hartge models, AC Schnitzer CLS II and CLS III.
As I said earlier, the definite book regarding M models, Alpina and other top-notch tuners.
